" SENEGAMBIAN BEAUTY FROM DAKAR TO BANJUL,WE SING ELEGANCE... " OFF DAKAR BIENNALE

Jendalma Art and Design is delighted to present a brand new exhibition of old black and white photographs taken by Mr Daouda Gueye between 1950 and 1980!

Exhibition ‘Senegambian Beauty from Dakar to Banjul, we sing elegance...’ from 26 May to 26 June 2022.

Based on the portrait, the installation combines black-and-white photographs of men and women (Senegalese and Gambian) taken by Daouda Gueye between Senegal and Gambia between 1950 and 1980, with photography-related collectors' items from the same period, reproducing his on-site flash studio. A video presenting the exceptional artist, who is approaching one hundred today, will also be shown.

Each photograph reconstructs a part of the past, while providing a glimpse into the future through digital installations staged by exhibition curator Astou Sall.

Forging the future can only be done by magnifying the images of yesteryear, by being proud of a historical and cultural heritage of inestimable value!
